When should people use custom Conversion Charts on Amazon?

You can use a custom size conversion chart when you own the brand name of a product. As mentioned above, sellers occasionally use such charts to better accommodate the needs of foreign clients when default Amazon size charts are insufficient.

What is the process of getting your own charts accepted?

Your brand needs to be "well-known" for Amazon to accept your custom chart. If it's not, your item's ASIN will be connected to whichever conversion chart Amazon deems adequate.

To submit a custom chart you have to contact Amazon Seller Support where you will be asked to fill out a conversion template in .xlsx format. Any other required information (i.e., ASINs, categories, etc.) will be collected separately via direct contact with Amazon support.

The process will most likely require you to provide Amazon with proof of brand ownership.
